One Old Farm

I have chosen to highlight my current long-term project, One Old Farm, on the Rustic Roads homepage.  In this extended project I intend to photograph one old farm in rural Kane County, Illinois over a period of time, hopefully for a full year.  The purpose is to explore form, texture, light and shadow by becoming intimately familiar with one place.  My old farm has ample opportunities for photographic exploration with old and decaying structures, pealing paint, rust and various items laying around all over the place!   The secondary purpose of the One Old Farm Project is to document an old farm that will no doubt be levelled for development in the near future.  The eleven acre property is owned by a real estate firm, sits at the junction of two major State Highways and is almost completely surrounded by subdivisions of the “McMansion” variety.  Many of these images are black and white, while some are partial conversions – what colors I have left are for the most part desaturated.  Some are HDR images and are labeled as such.  Images will be added to and subtracted from this gallery as time goes by.  You may view the individual images singly or in full screen from the Gallery page.
